cousinsx-largeWhat a game last night in Starkville! Kentucky was tested for 33 minutes as Mississippi State never trailed til the final minutes as the Cats clawed back to win 73-64 which clinched atleast a share of the SEC crown and former Cat DeMarcus Cousins would like to tell the MSU fans to call him!!

Now the score really doesn't show how the game went as the Bulldogs were leading 90% of the time and for a good stretch of the game by double figure as they went up 13 at one point. Dee Bost had himself maybe his best first half in college as he scored 16 big points to lead MSU to a 13 point half time lead. Big man Arnett Moultrie also played well as he controlled the middle with 9 points and some physical plays that allowed Anthony Davis to only have one block in the half. As for Kentucky, they struggled getting the ball in the basket, shooting only 38% on the half which resulted in what was looking to be a potential second loss on the year.

The second half started and what a difference it was. UK ran a quick 5-0 run to cut it to single digits and began to chip away slowly from there til around the 7 minute mark when senior Darius Miller, who took over with 12 late points, scored his first bucket of the game that started a run of 20-4 and helped the Cats go from 13 down at the break to a 9 point victory in what was the toughest game of the season and a needed game for this team. We all know they can blow out teams and can win in the end of close games that they have been winning but we haven't seen how they would react down so much in a tough environment, but now we do. They fought and showed they have heart. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist dominated with a double-double, 18pts and 10rebs while Davis was himself in half two ending with 13 and 11.

Dee Bost was shut down in the second half, ending the game with 21 points so the move of Kidd-Gilchrist to guard him was a great call by Coach Calipari. Moultrie finished with another double-double but not before drawing a technical for basically sweeping Terrence Jones, who had NO reaction which was the best part of the incident. And speaking of technicals, the one called on Davis was HORRIBLE. If he would have let go I would have seen 10 cameramen including himself be taken out so good job officiating for being so dumb all the time.Teague struggled but it's over because it's only one game and he will own Tinsley this weekend and again, THANK YOU DARIUS MILLER!!!

Anyways, the Cats pulled out what was a huge game and now they will prepare for Vanderbilt to head to Lexington this Saturday for a noon tip-off. Go Cats!
